To protect your company’s sensitive financial and business information, Dappr requires all user accounts to be secured with two-factor authentication (2FA). This guide explains how 2FA works on the Dappr platform, when it is required, and how you can manage your settings.

Security is a fundamental part of the Dappr platform. Because Dappr provides regulated financial services and safeguards critical business records, we mandate 2FA as an essential security layer. The setup process is integrated into your first sign-in, and you cannot disable this feature.

How 2FA works at Dappr

Dappr uses your phone number to provide 2FA codes via SMS. During your initial account setup, you will be prompted to verify a phone number. After setup, you can also choose to receive login codes via email if you do not have access to your phone. However, email can only be used for signing in. All other features that require authentication must be verified via SMS.

For users of the Dappr native app on iOS or Android, biometrics (such as Face ID or a fingerprint scan) can be used instead of a code for both signing in and authorizing sensitive actions. We plan to support additional 2FA methods in the future.

When 2FA is required

You will be prompted for 2FA verification via SMS (or biometrics on the mobile app) when performing certain sensitive actions. These include:

  • Signing in to your Dappr account.

  • Making an ACH or wire payment from a Dappr Financial Account.

  • Depositing a check using the mobile app.

  • Authorizing ACH direct debit deposits into your account.

  • Connecting your Dappr Financial Account to a third-party service using Plaid.

  • Asking a Dappr team member via chat to make significant changes to your account.

Changing your 2FA phone number

If you need to change the phone number associated with your account, you can reset it from your My Account page.

  1. Click your profile picture in the top-right corner of the screen.

  2. Select "My Account" from the dropdown menu.

  3. Locate the "Phone number for 2FA" field and click "Edit".

  4. Click "Reset 2FA phone" to begin the verification process for your new number.

On the Mobile App:

  1. Tap your profile icon in the top-right corner of the screen.

  2. Tap "Contact information".

  3. Select the "Two-factor authentication phone" field.

  4. Tap "Reset 2FA phone number" to start the process.
